Truth is CyclistNexus was born out of a very simple idea: how do we easily organize and coordinate our rides with our friends and include all the information we'd need in one easily accessible place so we can spend more time on our bikes?

 

Honestly, isn't that what all cyclists want...to spend more time riding?

 

Initially conceived as a way to create and share route maps via the web, we quickly realized that creating a searchable, accessible repository for routes would be great not only for our friends but for the cycling community at large.

 

This was a start but it still didn't solve all of our problems...we're cyclists after all, we want to ride no matter where we are and that was a problem; how can we find people to ride with if we're not in our home town?

 

Connecting with the cycling community in a chosen area, one that you're moving to or spending an extended time in perhaps, was for the most part, a hit or miss proposition. Maybe you'd get lucky and meet a local in the know on a ride or in a shop but for those on a short-term assignment to a new city that wanted to bring along their bike and ride over the course of an extended stay, it was almost impossible to have the time required to connect with the cycling community. When you moved to a new place, it often took an inordinate amount of time to find other cyclists and cycling information that matched your interests and abilities.

 

We allow people to specify a point on the map and have the system tell them what other cyclists, routes and cycling groups are riding in that immediate area, what events are happening now and in the future, not to mention providing a straightforward, easy way to reach out and connect with them. No more waiting for that chance encounter.

 

Sounds cool right... but we weren't finished.

 

We know the pain of coordinating a ride and tracking performance. In early 2006, the CyclistNexus team set out to create an online community with the sole purpose of connecting cyclists and the cycling information they want and need, easily and quickly.
